Dr. Pitchaipillai Sankar Ganesh., Msc., Phd.,
Assicoate Professor & Head - Research.,
Department of Microbiology.,
Dr. P. Sankar Ganesh is an Associate Professor of Microbiology with research expertise in antimicrobial resistance, quorum sensing, biofilm biology, oral microbiology, and infectious diseases. His research focuses on the discovery of natural and synthetic antibiofilm agents against multidrug-resistant pathogens, particularly Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Acinetobacter baumannii, and Streptococcus mutans. He has led and collaborated on projects involving quorum sensing inhibition, biofilm-associated virulence attenuation, antimicrobial photodynamic therapy, oral microbiome research, and molecular mechanisms of bacterial pathogenesis. He has secured conference grants from DBT, DST-SERB, CSIR, and DRDO, holds granted patents related to biofilm research tools, and has supervised multiple PhD, MSc, and undergraduate research projects in antimicrobial resistance, biofilm inhibition, and microbial therapeutics.

DR. A. ANAHAS PERIANAIKA MATHARASI, Ph.D. FLS.
Assissant Professor, Department of Microbiology
Interdisciplinary researcher specializing in microbial and marine biotechnology with a strong focus on microalgal and cyanobacterial cultivation systems for sustainable environmental and biotechnological applications. My research integrates algal biotechnology, microbial physiology, bioresource valorization, and bioprocess optimization to develop scalable solutions for CO₂ sequestration, biomass production, wastewater remediation, and renewable bioenergy. I have extensive experience in microalgal and cyanobacterial isolation, cultivation, molecular characterization, biomass analysis, lipid profiling, and downstream bioprocess applications.
My work particularly emphasizes sustainable biotechnology approaches involving microalgae for carbon capture, nutrient recovery, and biofuel-related applications, which closely aligns with the objectives of the SEAlgaePower project at the University of Gothenburg. I have demonstrated research productivity with 35+ Scopus/Web of Science indexed publications (cumulative IF: 110.5, H-index: 15), 3 patents, and experience as Principal Investigator of a Government of India funded project (₹15 Lakhs). I also bring experience in undergraduate/postgraduate teaching, Ph.D. supervision, interdisciplinary research collaboration, and laboratory-based microbial biotechnology research.
