He completed his M.Sc with a Gold Medal and earned his Ph.D. through the Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctoral Research Fellowship, jointly from the University of Madras, Chennai, India, and Université Catholique de Louvain, Brussels, Belgium. During his doctoral studies, he received several prestigious research fellowships, including the DST-INSPIRE Fellowship and the University Research Fellowship from the University of Madras, among others.He has been awarded research grants from prominent funding agencies such as the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the Department of Health Research (DHR). His research primarily focuses on hepatology and molecular biology.

He has authored over 150 research and review articles as a first and corresponding author in reputed international journals, including Hepatology, Toxicology, Journal of Cellular Physiology, Critical Reviews in Oncology/Hematology, Environmental Toxicology and Pharmacology, Environmental Toxicology, Oral Diseases, Journal of Oral Pathology and Medicine, Journal of Drug Delivery Science and Technology, Drug Metabolism Reviews, and Nanomedicine, among others
